Creationist Museum To Feature Dragons, Unicorns

Kentucky's state-backed $150 million creationist theme park, The Ark Encounter, will allow visitors to explore a literal interpretation of the Bible's story of Noah and the ark.

But Kentucky blogger 'Media Czech' raised two important questions. First, were there dinosaurs on the original ark? Second, what about unicorns?

Read More: Dragons and Unicorns

Now, the blogger has found answers to both questions at Answers In Genesis, the official blog of the group behind The Ark Encounter. The group says "yes," to both.

Here's Answers In Genesis explaining why dinosaurs were on the Ark:

Being land animals, dinosaurs (or dragons of the land) were created on Day Six (Genesis 1:24–31), went aboard Noah’s Ark (Genesis 6:20), and then came off the Ark into the post-Flood world (Genesis 8:16–19). It makes sense that many cultures would have seen these creatures from time to time before they died out.

And here's their position on Biblical unicorns:

The biblical unicorn was a real animal, not an imaginary creature. ... The absence of a unicorn in the modern world should not cause us to doubt its past existence. (Think of the dodo bird. It does not exist today, but we do not doubt that it existed in the past.). ... To think of the biblical unicorn as a fantasy animal is to demean God’s Word, which is true in every detail.

Church Abuse Study Implicates Priests

Germany: A new report found that more than 250 priests and clerical staff were implicated in abusing children over a 64-year period in the Munich Archdiocese that Pope Benedict XVI once led, but that destruction of church documents over time prevented a full accounting of the scandal.

The report, released Friday by a church-appointed law firm, is the result of a six-month audit of the diocese's vast archives to see how Catholic leaders handled, or mishandled, past sexual abuse cases in the pope's former archdiocese.

Though similar archival searches have been under way elsewhere since a clerical abuse scandal first rocked Germany and other European countries this year, the Munich investigation has held particular attention because of what skeletons it might unearth from the pope's tenure there as then-Archbishop Joseph Ratzinger from 1977 to 1982.

Pastor Sentenced To 131 Months In Federal Prison

Oklahoma:  Pastor Steven Lee Wintersteen, 62, of Mammoth Lakes, California, was sentenced to serve 131 months in federal prison following his conviction for traveling from Reno, Nevada, to Oklahoma City for the purpose of having sex with a girl he believed to be 8 years old.

Wintersteen became acquainted with an Oklahoma City-area woman in October 2009 through a matchmaking website for individuals who are interested in unusual sexual experiences. He described himself as an “older daddy” looking for a “daddy’s girl” for a long term relationship.

Wintersteen asked the age of the woman’s daughter. She told him the girl was 8. Wintersteen sent the woman a picture of himself naked—except for a Santa Claus hat—and told the woman that he could not wait to show the “little one” “Santa” wearing only boots and a hat. Wintersteen told the woman in explicit detail that he wanted to have sex with the girl, and he made plans to travel to Oklahoma City. Unbeknownst to Wintersteen, the woman was cooperating with the FBI, recording all of her communications with him, and the 8-year-old girl did not exist.

Woman Sentenced To Death For Blasphemy

Pakistan: Asia Bibi, a 45-year-old mother-of-five, denies blasphemy and told investigators that she was being persecuted for her faith in a country where Christians face routine harassment and discrimination.

The court heard she had been working as a farmhand in fields with other women, when she was asked to fetch drinking water. Some of the other women – all Muslims – refused to drink the water as it had been brought by a Christian and was therefore "unclean". The incident was forgotten until a few days later when Mrs Bibi said she was set upon by a mob. The police were called and took her to a police station for her own safety.

Shahzad Kamran, of the Sharing Life Ministry Pakistan, said: "The police were under pressure from this Muslim mob, including clerics, asking for Asia to be killed because she had spoken ill of the Prophet Mohammed.

After the police saved her life they then registered a blasphemy case against her. She had been held in isolation for more than a year before being sentenced to death on Monday.

John Shimkus On Climate Change

From the March 25, 2009 hearing of the U.S. House Subcommittee on Energy and Environment. Rep John Shimkus, a climate change skeptic, spouts bible verses as evidence that climate change is false.

"The earth will end only when God declares its time to be over. Man will not destroy this earth."

Mr Shimkus, who has served in Congress since 1997, is seeking the leadership of the Energy and Commerce committee, which has a wide-ranging portfolio covering energy policy, environmental initiatives and public health.

In May 2007, he compared the Iraq war to a baseball game between his "beloved" St Louis Cardinals and the "much despised" Chicago Cubs.

In 2009 he walked out as President Barack Obama delivered a speech to a joint session of the House and the Senate.
