Inappropriately Dressed Woman Cause Earthquakes

Iran: A senior Iranian cleric has given a new reason for women to cover up. If they don't dress modestly, Ayatollah Kazem Sedighi claims, this leads to adulterous affairs. These, in turn, lead to earthquakes.

"Many women who dress inappropriately ... cause youths to go astray, taint their chastity and incite extramarital sex in society, which increases earthquakes," the Ayatollah told worshippers at Friday prayers in Tehran.

"Calamities are the result of people's deeds.... We have no way but to conform to Islam to ward off dangers," he added.
