Mom Accused Of Beating Son

Georgia: A Woodstock woman was out of jail Thursday after being accused of beating her teenage son because he would not go to church.

Woodstock police charged Ms. Lolita Smith, 48, with simple battery and criminal trespass in the incident that happened shortly after 10:40 a.m., officials said.

The 17-year-old called police at 10:46 a.m. to report that his mother was beating him with a belt.

The teen stated that he told his mother that he was too tired to go to church because he had woken up early to walk the dog, Woodstock police Officer E. B. Maddox said.
