Mormon Polygamist Convicted Of Rape


Texas: A resident of a polygamist compound in Texas was convicted Tuesday of sexually assaulting a child, a teenager given to him as a wife.

Allan Eugene Keate, 57, was married to the underage girl in 2006 at the Yearning for Zion Ranch, a compound founded by the Fundamentalist Church of the Latter-Day Saints, a dissident Mormon group.

Prosecution witnesses included a DNA expert who testified Keate fathered a baby born to the teenager.

    These aren't Mormons. Mormons are not polygamists. The Church forbids it. These are fundamentalist offshoots and cults.

    The FLDS church actually adheres to the original teachings of the founder of the Mormon church, Joseph Smith.

    Plural marriage was practiced long after Smith's death in fact and wasnt officially suspended until 1890 after Congress disincorporated the LDS Church and seized all its assets.

    So, to say that FLDS church is a cult, when they insist on following the teachings of the prophet and founder of the religion, is to say that the Mormon church in any form is a cult.
