Youth Pastor Guilty Of Sexual Assault

Colorado: A former Colorado Springs youth pastor accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl faces up to 90 days in jail and at least 10 years’ probation under a recent plea agreement with prosecutors.

Joshua Amoroso, 22, agreed June 30 to plead guilty to one count of sexual assault on a child, a felony.

In exchange, prosecutors agreed to dismiss 17 additional counts related to Amoroso’s three-month relationship with the girl, whom he met while counseling children at Gateway Church in Colorado Springs.

Church Volunteer Guilty Of Sexual Assault

Colorado: A former Springs Community Church youth group volunteer faces two years to life in prison after pleading guilty Monday to having a three-year sexual relationship with his family’s teenage baby sitter, a prosecutor said.

Eric Vincent Caverly, 37, admitted in court that he first seduced the girl in 2007, when she was 15 years old.

Caverly, who is free on a $25,000 bond, pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust. Prosecutors agreed to dismiss five additional counts under a plea agreement.

Caverly helped lead at least one church session that counseled youths on the dangers of pornography. He was recommended as a resource on sexual addiction, according to a program that was removed from the church website.

Prison Chaplain Paid Inmates For Sex

New York: A Queens chaplain was nabbed trying to pay an inmate for a most unholy act.

Frank DeTucci, 70, had $200 in his shoe and another $153 in his wallet when a guard at the Queensboro Correctional Facility spotted him kneeling Sunday in front of the prisoner, officials say.

When questioned, DeTucci admitted that on July 5 he paid the same inmate $120 and $150 on two separate occasions to perform oral sex on him in the chaplain's office.
DeTucci has been a chaplain for the state correctional system for 27 years and is a deacon at Our Lady of Mount Carmel church in Astoria. A church spokeswoman said he would be placed on administrative leave as soon as notified.
