Youth Pastor Arrested In Sting

North Carolina: A local youth minister and former disc jockey has been arrested for soliciting a minor over the internet for a sexual act and attempted indecent liberties with a minor.

Thomas L. Elliott, 40, was arrested in an undercover internet sex sting by the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office Thursday evening. According to Det. Tommy Sluder of the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office, Elliott has been under surveillance since September.

“He has initiated chats with undercover officers,” Sluder said Friday morning. “As the chat progressed, Mr. Elliott asked to meet for the purpose of a sexual act ... He believed he was talking to a 14-year-old girl.”

Sluder said that Elliott, who is a youth minister at Autryville Baptist Church in Roseboro, then drove two and a half hours from Roseboro to meet the alleged girl in Greensboro.

Pastor Charged With Lewd Act On 13-yr-old

South Carolina: A music minister in Greenwood is accused of groping the breast of a 13-year-old girl, according to Greenwood police.

Norman Henley Keesee, 57, is charged with committing a lewd act on a child. Keesee is an associate pastor and minister of music at Emerald Baptist Church in Greenwood.

According to incident reports, the girl told police that she was filing paper for Keesee at the church, when he walked up behind her, reached under her shirt and grabbed her breast.

She said that Keesee also grabbed her breast during a piano lesson two months earlier but said nothing about it at the time, the report said.

Authorities Give Go-Ahead To Execute Woman

Iran: Authorities in Tehran, Iran, have given the go-ahead to execute a woman who initially was sentenced to death by stoning.

However, what method will be used to execute Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani is unclear, said Mina Ahadi, spokeswoman for the International Committee Against Stoning. The execution could happen as soon as Wednesday.

Ashtiani, 43 and a mother of two, drew international attention when she was sentenced to death by stoning. She concedes that she was convicted of adultery, as initially reported, but says she was acquitted of murder. "The man who actually killed my husband was identified and imprisoned, but he is not sentenced to death," she said in August.

Church Attack Kills 58

Iraq: After the gunmen killed the priest and nearly everyone in the first row, an eerie quiet descended over the pews. The only occasional sounds were sporadic gunfire, the muffled cries of the hostages and the shouts of Islamic militants.
